Chad Darnell’s Groom’s Cake is the winner of Best Short Film: Fort Worth International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Best Short Film: Kansas City LGBT Film Festival, Best Narrative Short and Audience Choice Award at CNKY Film Scene Cincinnati, Best Short Film: Out on Film in Atlanta and Best Film Series: Cinema Diverse, Palm Springs and Audience Choice: Macon Film Festival.
His Birthday Cake (the feature film sequel to Groom’s Cake) premiered in Kansas City (Director’s Showcase and Best Comedy Film) in June 2013 and is projected to play 20 festivals in 2013.
His web series Project: Phoenix (co-starring Sherilyn Fenn, Susan Blakely, Lee Meriwether and Ian Roberts) premieres in November 2013.
He is currently in pre-production in Atlanta on the highly-anticipated Joey Stefano biopic (expected to begin shooting early 2014) and the thriller, The Marked, which is expected to begin filming in Savannah, GA in the Spring of 2014.
He is also expected to shoot the thriller, Installation in late 2013.
His production company will begin shooting a documentary in Spring of 2014.

Darnell is also developing the feature films Thousand Dollar Cash Prize, Our National Treasure and Whisper to the Black Candle based on the best seller by Jaclyn Wheldon White.
Darnell directed and produced the short film The Revivals. He wrote and starred in the short film Habeas Corpus, which was nominated for Best Drama and Best Picture for the 48 Hour Guerrilla Film Competition in 2012.
He is the screenwriter for Chapter 7 Entertainment’s Here’s What We’ll Say. Darnell developed Famous Last Words with Posh Pictures, and Tagged for Producer/ Director, Minh Collins.
Darnell co-wrote and co-produced the independent feature Away and co-produced the 2009 documentary I Want So Much to Live.
As an Extras Casting Director, Darnell has worked on over 70 productions including such shows as Alias, Crossing Jordan, Cold Case, CSI: Miami, Judging Amy, American Dreams and The Ghost Whisperer. He was also involved with the feature films Spider-Man, White Oleander, The Black Dahlia, Miss Congeniality 2, Catwoman, Dawn of the Dead, Must Love Dogs, Men In Black 2, and Their Eyes Were Watching God.
He also works as a freelance columnist.

Chad Darnell is Norcross Blue Devil, class of 1991. He was the recipient of the 1991 Georgia State Thespian Scholarship of 1991 and he attended the Governor's Honors Program in 1990 for Theatre. He attended the Georgia State Thespian Conference for years as a judge for the scholarship and as a guest for his "Life After High School" Workshop.
